GHG Inventory Support Companies often choose to carry out a GHG inventory as an early step in their climate change strategy development. TC+ES has been helping companies prepare and evaluate their GHG inventories for more than a decade, including companies such as PacifiCorp, Nike, Louisiana Pacific, and others. There can be many highly technical aspects to the completion of a GHG inventory process, and extensive documentation exists for the major protocols currently in use. TC+ES is familiar with the GHG inventory protocols currently used in the United States, and we are an approved Technical Assistance provider for the California Climate Action Registry. Answers to many of the most challenging inventory design and implementation issues facing companies, however, are not necessary technical, but rather involve strategic or planning issues. TC+ES can deliver added value by helping address questions such as: How can companies best position their inventory procedures to do double or triple duty in satisfying future regulatory data and inventory needs or near-term state-level requirements or voluntary programs? How can near-term public relations objectives and long-term regulatory risk management objectives best be balanced in the inventory process? What are the potential public relations and other implications of alternative reporting format choices, including absolute and rate-based reporting? What role should offsets play in a company's inventory, and how can the integrity of the company's inventory process and reduction targets be protected against low-quality offsets or offsets that are poorly accounted for? How can inventory design and implementation choices affect the near-term perspective of key corporate stakeholders? TC+ES has an established track record of helping companies address these questions efficiently and cost-effectively. |
